Oops I missed last week with some internet hassles - I must go back and share my Gorgeous Grape card though now that we're back online (fingers crossed.)

This week we are up to Granny Apple Green - a gorgeous, vibrant green.  Quite a nice addition to the ink collection if you like bright happy colours. 

I used my Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends and teamed it up with Lovely Lipstick - a nice bright pink.  (It has photographed a little more red tinged so you'll have to take my word for that.  Lighting must be a little off today.) 

I've used the flower from Petal Palette stamp set and the greeting is from Wishing You Well.  I've trimmed the white cardstock with some of the Granny Apple Green to help feature the green, and popped it all onto one of our Silver Foil Edged cards.  I am so loving these and will miss them when the Holiday Catalogue finishes.  They come in either silver or gold packs and you get 20 cards and envelopes (also with a foil trim) in the pack.  Such an easy way to add a metallic element with no hassle. 

Now I'd best save this in case my internet drops out again - repair guy out today but I think it is still being a tad flaky.  Aaah the joys of wi fi.

Tuesday means Colour Creations time and this week the AWH team are featuring the colour Garden Green. 

This is another colour I tend not to use that often.  I'm loving this colour challenge each week which is prompting me to reach for a few of my less frequently opened inks!  Don't you find you often end up using the same colours over and over.  It is nice to step out of the regular habit sometimes. 

I've used the Delightfully Detailed Note Cards and Envelopes - one of the Blackberry Bliss cards. 

The leaves are cut from Garden Green cardstock using two of the leaves framelits from the Frosted Bouquet pack. 

To add another dash of sparkle I've used a brush to add some stripes of shimmer paint to the notecard bases.  Some wink of stella glitter pen on the flowers too.  Always nice to have some extra shimmer and shine isn't it.

The greeting and flower stamps are from Cake Soiree stamp set.

Back again with our AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop where we are working our way alphabetically through the Stampin' Up! colours. 

This week we are up to Fresh Fig - one of our In Colours.

I decided to make a Christmas card and also to use up a bunch of little bits and pieces that were on my craft desk.

I've been meaning to get around to stamping the lovely deer from Dashing Deer stamp set.  I used my stamparatus so that I could stamp him a number of times to get a nice inky coverage and rich deep colour with the Fresh Fig ink.  I cut him out with the coordinating framelit.  I had some white pieces around - one stitched circle and one piece embossed with the Corrugated Embossing Folder.  Some copper glimmer paper from the Joyous Noel glimmer paper pack to trim and I used some copper thread from one of our card kits as well.

Welcome back to our Tuesday AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop. 

Working our way through the colours each week, and today we are up to Flirty Flamingo.  Not a colour I use that often but I love this combo with Highland Heather and Soft Sea Foam. 

I'm featuring the First Frost stamp set and a simple technique you can try at home - Faux Silk.  All you need is some white tissue paper, white cardstock and a glue stick, plus your favourite stamps and inks.

First up stamp your images onto your tissue paper.  (Go raid that wrapping paper cupboard or box and I bet you'll find some.)  Collage style stamps work well where you can just plonk on a range of images.  I've used Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather and Soft Sea Foam inks here. 

Next the fun bit - scrunch up your tissue paper. 

Now coat a piece of white cardstock in glue - use a glue stick or use Tombow multipurpose glue.  Make sure you coat the whole piece right to the edges. 

Unscrunch your tissue paper but don't smooth out the wrinkles. Gently press it onto your glued cardstock.  Be sure not to do any smoothing as the wrinkles is what gives you the lovely texture of faux silk.  Just tap it down.  Either trim off the excess tissue paper or fold over the edges and adhere on the back.  (I tried both ways this month and think you get a neater edge when you fold the extra over.)  Voila - you're all done. 

And here's the finished card.

Gives a lovely touch of soft texture to a card and is quick and simple to do with minimal equipment.  I love this technique.

I'm very excited to be joining in our team's monthly blog hop this month. It has been on my list for a while and I finally got organised to join the fun.

Tonight the Art with Heart team are sharing creative projects featuring the Holiday Catalogue. We hope our blog hop inspires you to get creative and make some fabulous Christmas creations. My card tonight features the Winter Woods bundle.  I've stamped the tree twice in Shaded Spruce ink.  There are two framelits to cut it out with.  One does the outline and another one you can layer over the top.  It has some branch parts that you can lift with a bone folder (or fingernail) to give a little more texture.  I glued the top tree onto the bottom with glue dots after curling the lift up parts. 

The card base is Whisper White thick, the trims are Shaded Spruce and I've used some of the All Is Bright DSP.  Some red rhinestones to finish it off.  The greeting is cut with the Bunch Of Banners framelits.  One of the framelits cuts that banner and also cuts a frame for it.  Nifty.

 

I quite like this slightly 3D tree and look forward to using it again soon at the craft desk.  Thanks for stopping by.

This week on our weekly AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop we are featuring the deliciousness that is Early Espresso.  Love this deep, rich brown.

It teams beautifully with so many other colours and I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the hoppers have used it.  Links down below. 

I've used it as my background this week for a Christmas card with our neutral colour family.

All the details:  The base here is Crumb Cake, with the Early Espresso layer embossed using the Tin Tile embossing folder.  (Are you just LOVING this folder?! Gorgeous.)  I trimmed it with a little smidge of the Joyous Noel glimmer paper - the Merry Merlot one.  I've stamped the Cross Stitch stamp set with some help from my Stamparatus. After watching our CEO Sara's FB video the other day I realised I haven't quite lined this up right but who cares - close enough.  Looks OK to me.  (Especially without my glasses - wink!)

Ink Colours: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Merry Merlot.  The greeting is from the same set and is done with Early Espresso and Merry Merlot Stampin' Write Markers.  Some red rhinestones to finish. 

Use one of your little circle punches to cut the notches in the side of the greeting rectangle for an added detail.

A lovely bright and happy spring colour for you this week on our AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop. 

We are up to Daffodil Delight and I thoroughly enjoyed making a nice cheerful card with it.

I was inspired by a Janet Wakeland video to use some of our new Foil Edge Cards and Envelopes. (Page 11 of the Holiday Catalogue.)  Don't they make a lovely base and an effortless silver trim there.  I cut my Daffodil Delight cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4".  Cut it a little smaller if you'd like more of the silver border to show through.  The embossing folder is Swirls and Curls (pg 5.)  This was the perfect time to grab out my Beautiful Day stamp set and give the butterfly a whirl.  I embossed it with silver embossing powder then coloured it using my Stampin' Blends - Daffodil Delight and Pool Party pairs.  This stamp set is a great one if you're just getting started with colouring.  Nice big sections to colour - you can't go wrong. 

I coloured some sections with the pale colour of the pair, then added a little bit of the darker shade - just plonked it on along the edge of the section.  Go back over the join with the pale colour and it softens the edge. 

I've given our new Chicken Wire Elements a whirl too.  (Find them on page 43.)  Nice for a little touch of silver.  Just snip off the amount that you want or use the whole piece.

Tuesday evening so it is time for our AWH Colour Creations blog hop. 

This week we're featuring Crushed Curry.  Not a colour I use often so I was a bit keen to give this one a go. 

I did a simple version and a stepped up version.  Can't quite decide which one I like better.  I'm a pretty simple sort of girl so leaning a bit towards the stripped down version.

I just LOVE the new Frosted Floral Specialty DSP in the Holiday Catalogue (going live tomorrow - yay!)  It has a gorgeous sheen to all the sheets.  I especially love the muted designs like this one in grey.  I thought it would team beautifully with black and crushed curry. 

I've sponged some Crushed Curry ink on the base and stamped some of the lovely textured stamps from Gallery Grunge stamp set too.  The layers for the greeting are done with Stitched Labels and Stitched Shapes framelits. 

I sponged some Crushed Curry ink onto the white polka dot tulle ribbon too for just a little more texture.

Some black rhinestones teamed well with the Classic Label punch.

It was nice to get creating with a colour I don't use frequently.  Might have to get it out more often.

Back with you again for our AWH Heart Of Christmas Week 3.  

Each Wednesday night we're bringing you a Christmas creation.

I thought I'd give Cross Stitched Christmas stamp set a whirl this week.

Now the stamparatus is very handy for this card.  It helped me get the 3 layers of tree lined up nicely and I could try out a few colour variations while it was all set up. For my first attempt my two greens were a bit too alike so I tried again with this one using Pear Pizzazz and Shaded Spruce with Poppy Parade for the highlights.  The beauty of the stamparatus is that once you've gotten the reading glasses out and done the work of getting it lined up nicely, you can do a bunch of cards before you pop it back in its case.

The gorgeous DSP is All Is Bright with some really lovely designs.  The Holiday Catalogue goes live on September 5th if you've got your eye on these or other products. 

I liked the greeting from this set.  Stamped in Poppy Parade and some red rhinestones to finish. 

I've used the Stitched Seasons framelits again to cut out the tree panel.  Don't forget we're on the very last days for this one.  Once Friday is over and August is done - you won't be able to order this anymore.

Hello and welcome to Week 2 of the Art With Heart team's Heart Of Christmas blog hop.  Each Wednesday evening we'll be bringing you a Christmas creation.  There's a link down the bottom where you can check out the cards from the other hoppers. 

This week I had a few coppery products lying around so thought I'd assemble a card from leftovers.  Love this coppery Christmas addition to my card stash.

Tips and Tricks: The copper foil piece is embossed with 'Oh My Stars' embossing folder.  The leaves from Blended Seasons are embossed in white and coloured using the gorgeous shimmer paint coming up in the Holiday Catalogue.  Remember that stamp set is only until the end of August then it'll be gone for good. 

I used my aquapainter to dip into the shimmer paint in the lids.  LOVE shimmer paint.  I daubed some onto the Merry stamp for the greeting.  If you love copper we've got copper glimmer paper coming up soon in 6" combo packs.  The 'Christmas' is cut using the Merry Christmas To All bundle.
