Perennial Card Kit Class: One Spot Left

Kit class2

I've got one spot left for tonight's Perennial Card Kit class.  Class fee is $50 which includes your kit.  A pretty card box, month dividers to record your family and friends' birthdays on and all the bits you need to make 16 cards.  I've got the coordinating inks, stamps plus a big bunch of alternative greetings so you can customise to the occasions you've got coming up.

A fun relaxing way to spend a couple of hours.

One spare kit left if you'd like to come along at 7.30pm tonight.  Text/phone 0417 377 057 to grab that last kit.

Or have your own 'class' at home.  You can find the kit here:   Perennial Card Kit Order Online

Coordinating ink colours are Flirty Flamingo, Dapper Denim and Old Olive.  Grab the coordinating stamp set or just sub in your own greetings.

Keen to do this class but can't make it today?  I've had a couple of requests to run it again in Feb.  Let me know if you're interested - if we get enough people keen I can try to work in another date.

Happy Stamping!

Cheers, Sue

Saleabration: Heartfelt Blooms

Heartfelt Blooms stamp set is one of the options you can choose as your free item with a $90 purchase during Saleabration.

This stamp is a beautiful, photographic bouquet of flowers in a gorgeous vintage look. A one-step stamping stunner for all your projects.  Stamp in one color or stamp in a neutral color and color in your favorite shades.  Works well as a subtle background or a feature for your project.

Stampin' Up's  new 'Distinktive' stamp lays down the ink at different opacities, giving the finished image more depth.

Stamp set also includes 3 lovely sentiments suitable for many occasions, or for 'just because.'

Head on over to my online store if you'd like to place an order.  Or phone/email if you'd prefer and I'd be happy to help.

Have a fabulous day!

Happy 10th Anniversary To Me

10years imageThis week it is the 10th anniversary of having my own Stampin' Up! home based business so today on the blog I'm going to take a little trip down memory lane.

A decade ago I headed along to my friend Leanne's card gathering where the talented Claire Daly showed us the gorgeous range of colour coordinating Stampin' Up! products and I had my first proper look through the catalogue.  I was so excited by all the beautiful products that I couldn't concentrate and stuck my card together all wonky.  I had to pull it apart when I got home and fix it up.  (Actually - sticking things on straight has never been a skill really!!)

I wanted everything in the catalogue and after a quick chat with John (who didn't have the faintest clue what I was raving on about) I joined on the spot.

Before I knew it I was unpacking my starter kit and getting stuck into the inks, papers and stamps.  I hadn't really done much in the way of stamping before - apart from a few headings for scrapbooking with some alphabet stamps.  Despite this lack of expertise, I held my first card party a little while later with some willing victims relatives.

A couple of weeks later I started my blog.  It is still there - I changed platforms a couple of months later to this one.  Right from the start I loved blogging and writing newsletters and just waffling on to the world, and sharing my creations.  I often suspected I might be talking mostly to myself but that didn't bother me - still fun.  Click here to have a look back in history at my first blog post:  Sue's Blogging Debut     (- with one of my first spam comments I just noticed - ha ha.)

And my first Stampin' Up card:   Sue's First SU Card Blog Post

First card

A month or so later I started running classes from home.  Did you know one of my first class attendees Cecile is still coming to class 10 years later?  I had no idea what I was doing but we muddled along and classes became one of my favourite parts of my Stampin' Up world. I really miss my class regulars when I have a month or two off.

Look how little the kids were back then.  My class regulars, newsletter subscribers and blog followers have watched them grow up.

One of the first stamp sets I bought was Stem Silhouettes and I think it is still one of my all time favourites.  It never made it into my retired stock box but sits with a few other treasures in the cupboard.  Here's one of my early cards with it.

Stem silhouettes

I gradually got to know my way around my inks and stamps and worked on my card photography.  Props now - snazzy!

Two years of hard work later and thanks to my gorgeous customers, class regulars and terrific team, I earned the Stampin' Up Incentive Trip to Hamilton Island.  It was so lovely to get away for a week with John on an all expenses paid trip.  We were stoked.  He was not minding craft supplies invading the dining room now - ha ha.

Here's a recap of that trip:  Hamilton Island Incentive Trip

Hamilton island

John was an experienced Stampin' Up husband by then and helped me assemble my swaps - ha ha.

John swaps

Three years of card parties, classes, markets, team building, blogging and newsletter writing later I earned the trip of a lifetime - the trip to Stampin' Up's head office in Salt Lake City, Utah.  We got to go to the Stampin' Up 25 year convention with about 5000 or so others, then we had a terrific week at the St Regis Resort, Deer Valley.  Head to June/July 2013 on the blog to see more if you're interested. There's a bunch of posts.

One of the highlights was a tour of the head office - so so so gorgeous.  You can see the details of that day here:  Head Office Tour

Even more fun with friends ....

Head office

L-R: Kathryn, Kylie, Me, Genna and Claire   - it was great to share the trip with my upline Claire and my team member Kylie and lots of other South Pacific friends.  We're a close community.

Seeing how our stamps were made at the Kanab manufacturing plant was exciting too:  Kanab Tour Day

We even got to help out ....

Helping out

Another highlight in my time as a demonstrator has been the opportunity to present at our Melbourne one day events and at convention.

In 2013 I was one of the presenters at our one day Melbourne MDS event and showed how the program (since discontinued) could be used for family history projects such as this one I made of family weddings.

Wedding printers tray

In 2015 at our annual convention I was chuffed (and a tad nervous!) to do a short presentation with tips on holding a catalogue launch.  Over two sessions there were 500 or so in the audience.  Stampin' Up has definitely helped me stretch my wings and take on new challenges.

Catalogue presentation

Over the ten years I've gotten to build up a rather snazzy collection of great products, have sent out 138 monthly newsletters, have racked up a large collection of blog posts, have built up a wonderful crew of customers, class regulars, newsletter subscribers, and blog followers, have grown a friendly, totally terrific team (we call ourselves Think Ink)  and made met a load of great friends - both online in our team facebook groups and in person at our events.  My Stampin' Up business has enabled me to remain part time in my other job - as a teacher.  I love the flexibility it gives me to work around family commitments.

Hands down the very very BEST part of the ten years has been the beautiful people it has brought into my life, bringing a big dose of fabulous.  A big 10 year thanks to all of you for bringing such colour, creativity, and friendship into my world.

What an epic 10 years.  Looking forward to the next 10.

Thanks for joining me in a little (long!) trip down memory lane.

Cheers, Sue

PS:  Want to start your own epic experience?  Head on over here and holler if I can help with any questions.  So glad I took the plunge.

Stampin' Up!: Card Classes Melbourne 2018

New yearDid you make a New Years resolution to be more creative and to find time for hobbies you love in 2018?

Keen to learn something new or have some 'me time' this year?

Perhaps a card class is for you.  I hold classes at my house in Avondale Heights, in Melbourne's west.  All materials and tools are supplied.  Classes are suitable for beginners and enjoyable for more experienced papercrafters.  Everyone is welcome and we have a friendly, relaxed environment for creating.  Maximum of 8 per class.

My 2018 card classes are kicking off and I've got dates and details for January - March.

January Special Project Class

Class Fee: $50 (includes kit)

This month I've got a special project class for you.  We'll be making the Perennial Birthday Project Kit.
The kit includes components for making 16 birthday cards, 4 each of 4 designs, plus the lovely box to store them in. Keep organised by recording birthdays on the tabbed dividers for month-at-a-glance reminders.
Perennial birthday kit 1
Each person will have a kit and I'll have the coordinating stamp set and inks at class for you to complete the stamped sections.  Then we can assemble our cards at our leisure at class (or complete the assembly at home if we get chatting over a cuppa.)
Class fee is $50 and bookings need to be finalised by January 15th  so that I can order the kits in time for the class.   Contact me to organise payment.
(Note: You can add other items in addition to your kit totalling $45 + to pick up at class so that you qualify for a free Saleabration choice if you'd like.  Let me know when you make your booking if you'd like to take up this offer.)
Class Dates:
Thursday January 25th:    10.30am - 12.30     (Regulars - note the slightly later start time for this one.)
Thursday January 25th:     7.30pm - 9.30
Places are limited to a maximum of 8 per class.  Phone/email to book your place and organise payment.  Bookings must be finalised by Jan 15th.
Here's a closer look at the month dividers.

I love this box for keeping organised with birthdays.  You could have a productive day making cards ahead of time and addressing the envelopes.  Just pop them behind the divider and post as per your calendar.  I've been particularly tardy and forgetful last year with birthdays so looking forward to putting my kit together.  It includes materials for 16 cards to help you with your card stash.
Live further afield or can't make a class?  You can make this one at home.  There's a coordinating stamp set for the kit or you may be able to substitute in greetings from your stash.
Here's a tips and tricks video on this kit.

TECHNIQUE CLASSES:  February and March 2018
Class fee: $25
We've got something new this year - well not new if you've been coming to class for a LONG time but new to everyone else.
We're going to be putting together a technique booklet at classes this year.  Each month we'll have a new stamping technique.  I'll give you a little printed instruction sheet to paste into your book, and we'll make a sample to paste in beside it.  BYO blank book - our instruction sheet and samples will be approx 10cm square if you're out and about and find a blank book that'd be suitable.  Over time we'll build up a lovely resource with samples of a range of techniques.
We'll make a card showcasing our technique of the month, plus some other cards as well featuring other products.
Here's some dates if you're wanting to get your 2018 calendar all organised.  I'm still playing with techniques to find my favourites so will have details on that later.  We always have something snazzy to make though.
Class fee is $25 and includes all materials.  We'll usually be making 3 cards with envelopes plus our technique sample.
Wednesday 14th Feb:  7.30pm - 9.30
(Don't forget this is Valentine's Day if you've got a romantic evening planned!  My hubby is away then so no candlelit dinners here - wink.)
Friday 16th Feb:  10am - 12
Thursday 22nd Feb:  7.30pm - 9.30
Friday 23rd Feb:  10am - 12
Wednesday 14th March:  7.30pm - 9.30

Friday 16th March:  10am - 12

Thursday 22nd March:  7.30pm - 9.30

Friday 23rd March:  10am - 12
Bookings are essential and some classes book out quickly so phone/text/email to grab a spot.
Get in touch if you'd like to book in for my special project kit class or for Feb/March card classes, or if you have any questions about classes or about Stampin' Up.   I'd be happy to help.   Ph: 0417 377 057 or email: [email protected]
I hope your resolutions are off to a great start.  I was a bit slow getting moving again this year but my new fitness tracker has gotten me motivated to get that step count up.  And back into some scrapbooking too after a year of not making time for it.  Looking through my 2017 photos and picking some favourites from each month for some quick layouts.

Wishing you a terrific start to whatever plans you have for your year.   I'm a big fan of fresh starts - whether that's January 1st, 11th or just anytime you choose.
Happy Stamping!
Cheers, Sue

One Little Word: Declutter

Each year in late December/early January I love chatting with a couple of my OLW friends about what our new One Little Word will be for the year.  I came across the idea from Ali Edwards the scrapbooker and did one of her OLW classes one year.

I love the process of mulling over different words to see what speaks to me that particular year.  I had a bit of a messy, cluttered patch last year so for 2018 I'm going with DECLUTTER.

DeclutterI'm starting with some much needed decluttering of the house.  We've whipped through the kids' rooms - well they made all the decisions and did the sorting, I just helped out.  Looking much more orderly in there.

I've dug up the top of my craft desk but a bit more TONS to go in there.  Bit of a never ending job keeping our craft areas tidy and organised isn't it.

Next up is some decluttering of my calendar and daily/weekly routine - getting rid of some time wasting things and making space for what's important.

Do you do a One Little Word?  I'd love to hear about your word for 2018 if this is something you do in January.  (Or anytime really.)

Getting your calendar organised for 2018?  My January newsletter has gone out today with class dates for January, February and March.  I'll have them here on the blog in a day or so - my newsletter crew get the first peek.  Sign up for my newsletter and I'll shoot you through a copy if you'd like to join the crew.

Stay cool if you're in one of our hot areas today.  42 predicted for Melbourne so I'm parked in front of the fan catching up on jobs, and possibly browsing Netflix once I tick a few things off my lists.  Wink!

Happy Stamping!  And best wishes for any of you who have some resolutions or intentions for 2018.  May your year bring you joy and fulfillment.

Cheers, Sue
