Washi Tape Cards

Here's a quick and easy idea for you if you've got a stash of washi tape and would like to make some snazzy cards.  The Stampin' Up coordinating packs of 3 - 5 washi tape rolls are so handy for this design.

Washi-card-1

Tips and Techniques:  This one features Affectionately Yours Washi Tape.  I especially love that dotty one with the metallic copper dots.  I've cut my Whisper White thick card to 5cm in width, attached the washi then matted it with a coordinating colour (in this case Watermelon Wonder.)  Pop it on to a Whisper White Thick base with some dimensionals for height.  A doily and enamel dot finish it off.

Washi-card-2

Here's a couple more featuring different washi collections.

This one is with Floral Boutique Washi Tape.

Some coiled up metallic thread adds a touch of sparkle under the greeting panel.

And my final card today is with Playful Palette Washi Tape.

Some fun colours and designs in this pack.  Do you have a favourite washi?

Washi storage:  I had a big beautiful glass bowl that John and I got as a wedding gift and had only used once for dessert.  Grabbed it out of the cupboard, dusted it off and now it sits on my desk holding all my washi tape.  I've used the tape lots more since I've had it out and handy.

Happy creating!

Cheers, Sue

August and September Class Dates

142323O1Just a quick little note to let you know that my July newsletter has gone out today.  It is a bumper edition with lots of pics - cards plus my before and after craft space pics.  There's a sign up box over here on the right if you'd like to subscribe to my Stampin' Up newsletter - sent via email once a month (or thereabouts.)

For those who've been waiting on August and September class dates - they're up now too on the class page.  Here's the summary - as of 6pm Mon.  Check the class page  regularly for updated class numbers.  I try to update each evening.

AUGUST CLASS DATES

Here are the dates for August classes where we'll be making 3 cards using some of our beautiful new catalogue products - and if we cross our fingers, you might be able to pick up your new upcoming Holiday Catalogue at class, chock full of Christmas products.

Thursday 18th August:  7.30pm - 9.30pm      Booked Out.  Ask to go on the waiting list.
Friday 19th August:  10am - 12      6 spots left for this one.
Wednesday 24th August: 7.30pm - 9.30      Booked Out. Ask to go on the waiting list.

September is a little tight with school holidays and an extra week away in the sunshine for myself and the family.   Just 3 dates this month.

We'll be making 3 cards including Christmas ones.

Wednesday 7th September:  7.30 - 9.30pm      2 spots left for this date.
Thursday 8th September: 7.30 - 9.30pm      4 spots left for this one.
Friday 9th September: 10am - 12     5 spots left for this one.

Class fee is $25.   All materials and tools supplied.

Book your spot at the table by phone or email.

A Little Reminder:
Please check your calendar carefully and note down the date/time you've booked for.  I've often got more people keen to attend than spots available for some dates/months so it helps if you can get in touch early if you find you can't make a class you've booked for.   If a class you're keen on is booked out - please ask to go on the waiting list.  A spot often becomes available.

I've got lots and lots of retired stock here after my tidy up, plus a box of 'free to a good home' items as well so I'll have those out at August classes for anyone interested.  Remind me if I forget!  They're just under the class table.

Cheers, Sue

Flourishing Phrases in Sweet Sugarplum

Today's card was inspired by this Mary Fish creation.  The large flourish from the Flourish Thinlits makes such a stunning feature on a card.

Flourishing-phrases-1

Tips and Techniques: The pearls make a nice finishing touch.  I've cut a window in the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock using one of the circle thinlits.  The greeting from Flourishing Phrases fits nicely inside.    (The colour is not quite as vivid in real life as it looks here but is a little softer.  My computer is not quite cooperating today with the colour on this one.)   I've used Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake for the base and Blushing Bride for the flourishes.

Pokemon-go-iconHave a wonderful weekend.  My sister and I are escorting the kids this weekend to do a lap of a nearby walking trail and hunt some Pokemons.  They finally nagged me into approving the app, subject to a few 'mum rules' - first one being "No walking while looking at your screen.  Stop (not in the middle of a path) THEN check." The app was a good prompt for a bit of a chat about online security and being careful about identifying information.  I love the website Common Sense Media for doing a bit of checking into the latest apps (or movies or what not.)  They had some good safety tips for Pokemon Go.    I do like an app that encourages kids (and the rest of us) to get out and about and do some walking.  Happy hunting!

And happy stamping!

Cheers, Sue

Some Christmas In July Inspiration From The Artisan Team

Christmas artisan team

I always love the Stampin Up Artisan Team blog hop once a month.  This month they featured some beautiful festive creations - perfect for Christmas In July craft inspiration.  (I'm more of a Christmas in mid December at the last minute creator so I especially enjoy looking at projects organised nice and early.)

If you feel like a little browse through the Christmas creations - you can start the hop from here with Chantal de Kaste's project and follow the links to zip around the Artisan Team blogs.  I love the watercoloured background on Chantal's cards.

Have you visited my patch of facebook?  You can find me at SueMadexPapercrafts over on FB.  Hit the like button if you'd like to stay up to date with crafty posts.
