Honeycomb Happiness: Loving The Bird

Still loving this cute little bird from the stamp set Honeycomb Happiness.  (Free with a $90 purchase during Saleabration.)

Birdy-1

Tips and Techniques: I stamped him onto Shimmery White cardstock and used an aquapainter and some Soft Sky ink to paint a wash of colour.  Shimmery White is a handy option for watercolouring - the slightly shiny surface means you can do a little blending and it is less inclined to pill or go soggy.  Snip him out with some scissors.  I've used a square punch and some leftover scraps of Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper (another freebie option during Saleabration.)

Birdy-2

Colouring is having a resurgence in popularity at the moment.  Seems like I see adult colouring books in every store.  They're fun aren't they.  I find the process of colouring so relaxing.  You can also use your stamps to make some great little pieces to colour then add to a card and post to someone special.  I enjoyed this article on some of the benefits of colouring in.  Huffington Post: Colouring Isn't Just For Kids

Here's another fun idea for our little bird.  Grab some of the cute little honeycomb embellishments (page 9 of your Occasions Catalogue) and add a tummy.  You can leave them as is or spritz on some colour.  Very cute.

Happy stamping!

Cheers, Sue

Sky Is The Limit Notecard

Today I'm sharing one of our limited time only Saleabration stamp sets.  This one is called Sky Is The Limit and is free with a $90 purchase just until 15th Feb.  I've been enjoying using our little notecards for some January creating.  Just a nice size for a simple and quick card.  (Simple works for me this month while we've been enjoying holiday time.)

Sky-1

Techniques and Tips:  To make the background I punched a cloud with the tree builder punch (well it is a tree top really but it works as a cloud too - handy.)  I used it as a mask and sponged some Soft Sky ink around to make a dappled sky.  Get those scissors out to cut out the plane for a little dimension - or just stamp it straight on for simple.

Colours: Greeting is done in Cherry Cobbler.  Basic Black for the plane.  Soft Sky for the sky.  Smoky Slate for the heart shaped puff from the plane.

Sky-2

Here's another idea from Stampin' Up with this set.  Looks good on the Crumb Cake base doesn't it.

Soaring

Back to work for me this week and back to school on Monday for my two munchkins. - not so munchkiny anymore.  Hannah is in Year 8 and Jack is in Year 5.    Along with creating and doing craft classes, I'm a teacher Tuesday - Thursday. A nice combo of jobs.   I'm looking forward to doing a little number testing next week with students then meeting my newest batch of maths groups children.  I'll be working with each small group once or twice a week to help with their maths skills.  Such a great job - I love it.

If you've got children starting back at school at the moment, I hope their first days for 2016 are very happy.  I got to help out with some new preps starting yesterday - so gorgeous.

Happy stamping!

Cheers, Sue

Honeycomb Happiness - Dial Up The Cute

KLTL4423

Isn't this little bird just so cute.  He fits beautifully onto a tag or onto a notecard.  Keep him plain or add some colour with an aquapainter and some ink.

I accidentally got a tiny smudge of ink near my greeting so some of the pretty enamel dots came in handy for some disguising!

The bird is from Honeycomb Happiness - free during Saleabration with a $90 purchase.

Speaking of birds - the kids and I enjoyed a few days up the Hume Highway visiting my parents.  Always nice to have a relaxing time with family.  They've got gorgeous magpies that come and visit daily for a snack.  Here's one coming to tell dad, "We're here now.  Come out with the snacks!"

I hope your January is off to a stellar start.

Happy stamping!

Happy 2016 Everyone

Hello and Happy New Year.

Just taking a quick break from all the relaxing and family time and playing with Christmas presents to wish you all a happy, healthy and creative 2016.  I hope the year brings you much joy and all those special moments that make life grand.

I've been working on a bit of a slightly overdue health kick for the last month and came across this Cathy Zielske Fit class to document a year of health efforts scrapbook style.  It has just started and I'm really enjoying it.  You can join in anytime.  Here's the details for anyone interested in documenting:  Cathy Zielske Fit Class

FItPromoStudents

Supplies: I'm using my Stampin Up 6" x 8" Project Life album and Variety Pack of page protectors, and printing off all of Cathy's cards onto my Whisper White cardstock

Fit page 1

Also on my list for January is a big clean out and tidy up of my disaster zone craft room/study so I can find the top of the desk (and the floor for that matter!)  Then I've got a big big box of Occasions/Saleabration goodies that are just about BUSTING to be played with.  I can't wait to share some projects with you.

This year my craft focus is to SEND MORE CARDS.  I've got quite the habit of making and stashing them.  There is such a beautiful power in sending a handcrafted card with a personal message.  I've been the recipient of lots of these and every time I open an envelope and read a lovely message it reminds me of what a blessing a card can be.  So my "Just Because" greeting stamps are going to get a good workout this year.  Do you have any crafty resolutions for 2016?  I think some of my stamp sets would say "Show us some more ink please!"

Happy New Year everyone.

Cheers, Sue
