Happy Days

Aaah - I LOVE this time of year.  Nice and relaxed as the year draws to a close and a new one is about to begin.  So who is still eating Christmas/Boxing Day leftovers?  We're just about at the end of ours I think with ham toasties for breakfast.  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

I dug out some of my Stampin' Up supplies the day before Christmas for some last minute wrapping and tag making.

Hannah made tags for her presents using MDS. (She bought some presents for us with her pocket money - such a sweetie.)

We woke up at our house Christmas morning - quite a rarity as we often stay at my mum and dad's.  Our morning looked a bit like this ....

Jack-presents

Jack pretty much thought everything was "awesome."  Pokemon cards - awesome.  Paints - awesome.  A book - awesome.

We found a reasonably priced phone for Hannah (who has let us know for the last year that she's the only child in the entire universe without one apparently!)  I think it is now surgically attached to her hand.

Off to mum and dad's for a delicious Christmas lunch and dinner with my side of the family.  I love all the traditions of our Christmas.  The plates that were my grandparent's wedding set, the tablecloth handed down from past generations, the cutlery that was a wedding gift to mum and dad.

Home again to our place then we did it all again on Boxing Day with John's side of the family.  It was our turn to host this year.  Class ladies - my class table got a Christmas makeover!

Room

A lovely day of family, fun, billiards, basketball, photos and catching up.  And of course - lots of EATING!  I don't think I need to eat for a week now.

We had family staying for a few extra days so organised an excursion to the Melbourne Star.  Nice way to see the city.

So that was our Christmas.  I hope yours was wonderful.  I do love this post Christmas week too - a bit of relaxing down time.  We're having a bit of a rumpus room makeover with some help from Ikea.

Before I go, here's a peek at this week's Weekly Deals for anyone wanting to do some specials shopping to add to their craft collection.  Some great framelits this week.

Have a great week and I hope you've got some creative time happening.

Happy stamping!

Butterflies Thinlits by Stampin' Up: Sneak Peek

Butterfly-card

I think one of my favourites from our upcoming Occasions Catalogue is the Butterflies Thinlits.  Cuts 3 gorgeous butterflies - one that coordinates with stamps, plus two beautifully detailed ones.

I've featured the largest one on this card.  Other sneak peeks are Spring Flowers Embossing Folder and the stamp from Crazy About You stamp set - tons of handy words and phrases that work well with the Hello You thinlits.  This thinlit set features 'you' as shown in the card, plus 'happy', 'hello' and 'thanks'.

Handy Tip:  Pop a piece of baking paper or wax paper between the thinlit and cardstock when you're using these finer ones.  It'll help you remove your butterfly or word.  I used our Tombow glue.

Handy Tip #2: If you have to cut a gazillion of the butterflies for your club ladies and VIP customers - enlist the help of 2 children.  My two are expert 'pokers' now and we have confetti EVERYWHERE.  :-)  We usually do chores because mum said so for love in our place, but I may have said they could have 25c per butterfly in this case. Wink.

New Stampin Up Catalogues Have Arrived

Catalogue-and-cuppa

Guess what arrived on Friday??  First up my free demonstrator copy of the new Occasions Catalogue and Saleabration booklet.  Thoroughly enjoyed making a cuppa and sitting down for a good read.  (I'd seen it online in our demonstrator site but much more fun to read the paper version I find.)

Then later that afternoon (just when I'd about given up on the mail truck making a visit) - ding dong!  My favourite delivery guy.

Now this should keep me entertained for a quite a while .....

New-catalogue-goodies

Stampin' Up: Christmas Cards With Sparkle

Merry-red

Don't you just LOVE glimmer paper?  Our Stampin' Up glimmer paper is such lovely quality - nice fine glitter for maximum sparkle.  This is my favourite of our current colours - Dazzling Diamonds.  Two 12 x 12" sheets for $8.95.  We used some for the background panels of one of our November Christmas Card Class cards.

How To Make It: For this card I've stamped the Merry (from Seasonally Scattered stamp set) in Versamark then stamped it onto Whisper White cardstock.  White (or clear would work too) embossing powder then a heat gun to set it.  Next I sponged Real Red ink over the top.  Just keep sponging until you're happy with the depth of colour.  Wipe the excess ink off the stamped image.  I've cut it out using my Big Shot and Apothecary Accents framelit.

Here's another colour variation - this time in Night Of Navy, featuring gold glimmer paper.

Merry-gold

Another option was to skip the sponging and just emboss in white onto Navy or Red cardstock.  This stamp is quite forgiving really for embossing as if you get the occasional extra fleck of powder - it blends in with the snowflakes.  Love this Cherry Cobbler sheer ribbon from the Holiday Catalogue.

Merry-navy

Can you spot the rhinestones and pearls on these cards - the little finishing touches?

Happy December!  Didn't the 1st Dec roll around quickly.  I'm still feeling a tad Novemberish.  ;-)

Cheers, Sue
