Stampin' Up: Masking And Background Stamps

Lacy-congrats

I've got another couple of congratulations cards to share with you today now that they've arrived in the post to my team members.  (Isn't it lovely to celebrate achievements.)

For today's card I've used the technique of masking with some of our beautiful big background stamps.  Here are a few tips and step by steps.

I tore a piece of regular paper (grabbed from the printer) and made sure it was just bigger than my 'Congrats' greeting stamp.  Place this over your cardstock then stamp your background stamp firmly.  Now remove the piece of masking scrap paper.

Masking-1

Our new photopolymer stamps make it easy to line up the greeting to fit into the masked area.

Masking-2

To finish the card I trimmed this panel, added a matting layer and attached to my base card.  Some rhinestones and sequins for some finishing touches.

Here's another version this time with the stylish Hardwood background stamp.

Woodgrain-congrats

This technique/card design would be handy for any large greetings.

Happy card making.

Cheers, Sue

Stampin' Up: Bravo Stamp Set Congrats Card

Congrats-1

I've had some team members kicking goals lately (earning Stampin' Up promotions and incentives) so it was a great time to pull out the Bravo stamp set (page 133.)  This congratulations greeting screamed markers at me.

I rearranged my markers recently (must have been a slow day!) to group like colours together rather than have them in their Stampin' Up colour families.  Love how they look.

Markers

These are the Stampin' Write markers and they're great for colouring directly onto your stamp for a multicoloured image. Just colour straight to rubber (or photopolymer in this case) and if it has taken a while give a little 'huff' of warm breath before you stamp in case the ink has dried a little.

Congrats-a

Then stamp onto your cardstock and voila - all done.

I stamped some extra congratulations with the same stamp using Smoky Slate stamped off once so it was nice and subtle.   Some glimmer paper and rhinestones for a touch of sparkle.

Congrats-b

Happy Stamping!

I must get to the craft desk today and make a card for my dad.  Family lunch for his 70th is tomorrow so that needs a super special card I think.

Have a great day.

Cheers, Sue

About The Label: Simple Cards

Jars-materials

I had a lovely hour or so of cardmaking on Saturday for World Card Making Day.  Any excuse for some craft time.  My sister and daughter joined in the fun.

I decided to introduce some ink to the pristine mint condition not yet used "About The Label" stamp set (page 129 for those playing along at home.)  Grabbed out the coordinating little set of punches (aren't they cute), a set of note cards and envelopes, the All Abloom Designer Paper pad (page 185) and some coordinating ink pads.

For inspiration I turned to the page in the catalogue with the stamp set and found a few ideas to get me started.

Jars-catalogue

The jars are easy to cut out with nice sharp scissors.  I love my paper snips (page 215.)

Jars-cutting-out

And this stamp set has a nice range of teeny little greetings.  I opted for Hi - useful for a range of occasions!

Jars-greetings

Some patterned paper top and bottom and my 3 jars - just about set.  (Don't look too closely - I think one of those jars is a little lower than the other two.  Better not send this one to one of my gorgeous slightly OCD friends. Wink.)

Jars-before

Some of our thick baker's twine in Strawberry Slush was just right for a finishing touch.  I had 27 tries at doing an attractive bow then gave up and snipped the ends off to a slightly less attractive knot.  :-)

Jars-yellow

Whipped up a little set in no time at all.   I love these little note cards and envelopes - great little size.

Happy Stamping!

Happy World Cardmaking Day

Did you know that today is World Cardmaking Day?  Nice to have a day to celebrate a wonderful hobby isn't it.  I hope you can fit in a little creating this weekend.  Rather relaxing and therapeutic I always find.  If I'm a bit frazzled and feeling the effects of the hectic pace the week often gets, a bit of time at the craft table does just the trick to calm the mind.  And if you make something to give to someone special - double the benefits.

Butterflies

Card inspired by a Linda Higgins creation.

The butterflies are great ones for colouring with Blendabilities.  Easy ones for when you're starting out with alcohol markers and blending.  You can't really go wrong.  And the coordinating punch cuts them out so who cares if we go out of the lines.  Win!

Happy Card Making Day!
