Banners Framelit Card

At class this month we used the new Banners Framelits to make one of our cards.  Grab some DSP and coordinating cardstock colours and use the framelits to cut yourself some banners.  Some washi tape or ribbon to trim, pop it onto a card and you're all set.  A nice, quick and easy card.  This one uses the 3 largest size banners in the set.

The Banners Framelits are $45.95 and include 6 sizes.  Find them here:  Banners Framelits

Love the new Arrows Embossing Folder too.  (Here for $13.95)

We used the Sweet Sorbet DSP (patterned paper) in class.  The coordinating colours are Black, Crisp Cantaloupe,  Pistachio Pudding, Pool Party, Sahara Sand, Summer Starfruit and Whisper White.  Did you know you can find the coordinating colours for DSP on the back of the pack - handy having that list there.  Colours are also listed in the catalogue for your reference.

Get the Sweet Sorbet DSP free until the end of March with any $90 purchase.  (Or choose something else from the Saleabration freebies.)

Other products on this card: Retro Fresh Washi Tape, Crisp Cantaloupe Ribbon, Banner Burst stamp set and Banner punch.

I'll be back over the weekend with another variation on this card. This was one of those classes where everyone's cards looked different depending on which patterned paper/colour they selected.

Have a fabulous Friday.

Sydney-2014-049

Hello.  I've got another instalment today of my 'How To Make A Photobook Using MDS' video tutorial series. In part 2 we look at how to add some DSP into a photo box and how to search for and add embellishments.  We also quickly add text to a text box.   Hope it comes in handy if you'd like to give MDS and digital creating a go.

Stampin' Up: Perfect Pennants You and Me Card

You-and-me

A quick and simple card today using the Perfect Pennants stamp set and some circle punches.

I do love embossing folders.  This card features the new one - Ampersand.  Find it here.

The greeting is from Perfect Pennants stamp set.   Some handy greetings in that one for both card making and scrapbooking I think.   Find it here

I had some leftover bits of cardstock stamped with the Woodgrain background stamp so added those to the card to finish it off.  Always handy to make use of those scraps isn't it.

MDS: Making A Photobook Video Tutorial

My Sydney holiday photobook arrived in the post today and it looks terrific.  Great to see it all printed and ready to enjoy.

I've had a few queries on how to make a photobook using My Digital Studio by Stampin' Up so I've put together a short video showing a few tips and tricks for how to get started using the photo template options.

Hope it comes in handy.  I'll have another one shortly on how to add things to pretty it up, and how to adjust the layouts to suit.

Stamps

My 2014 card making classes kicked off last night.  It was lovely to get back into some card making with stamps and inks.  Space left next Thursday if you're hoping to catch a class this month. Check dates and details here.  March classes are filling fast so get in touch if you'd like a seat at the table for one of those too.

Happy creating!

Cheers, Sue

MDS: Sydney Holiday Album

Wow now this must be a record for me I think in recent years. I've actually FINISHED a scrapbooking project in less than a fortnight!  I loved the photos we took on our recent holiday to Sydney so made a digital photobook using MDS.  Here's a peek at a few of the pages.

Sydney-2014-028

Sydney-2014-022

Sydney-2014-021

For the final page in the album I added in 4 circle punches, then used the photo fill function to add our faces.  I asked each person in the family to say something about the holiday - favourite part, thoughts and so on.  A nice way to finish off the album and include all of our voices I think.

Sydney-mds1

Now - if I can get a 48 page photobook out of a 3 day holiday to Sydney - I wonder how long it'd be if we went on a longer trip overseas!!!  Ha ha.

I uploaded it all to Snapfish last night and my book should be on its way in a week or so.  I can't wait to see what it looks like.

In other out of character news, I'm also up to date in my "Our 2014 Life" album.  So glad I decided to go digital this year.  I'm way better at finding time to foof about on my laptop creating it seems!  And it is so much fun.  MDS makes it ridiculously easy too.

Happy scrapbooking!

Cheers, Sue

Happy Valentines' Day

Too busy having a lovely day yesterday so no time for blogging.  Had a fun morning with some girls (and 2 gorgeous babies) from my Think Ink team over for a cuppa, some nibblies and of course some stamping.  (Now with added guinea pig but they didn't seem to get in the way too much!)

John and I quite often take turns to remember Valentines' Day (by accident, not design) but this year we both remembered.  I made him a card ....

Stampin-up-valentines-card

The card features the new background stamp Hardwood.  Definitely going to be a favourite of mine I think after having a play with it.

Hardwood Stamp wood mount: $30.95    Hardwood Stamp clear mount: $24.95  (Make sure you have a large block to mount it on.)

Hardwood

I've also used some of our new washi tape.  Two new varieties in the Stampin' Up Occasions Catalogue.

Stampin-up-washi-tape

The canvas pieces are from the Saleabration Heartfelt Banner Kit.  Free with a $90 purchase before end of March.  I decided to use the pieces on cards rather than using them to make a banner.

Stampin-up-canvas-pieces

Got a box of nice chocolates from a snazzy chocolate shop to go with it.

Valentines-day

John rode his bike to work so picking up a bunch of flowers to bring home wasn't quite going to work.  He stopped in to Kikki K instead and got me a couple of photos frames with nice inspirational quotes and a pretty notebook.  He knows me well.  We had a nice glass of wine on the balcony before joining the kids for pizza and Little House On The Prairie DVD night.  Counting my blessings.

I hope you had a lovely week and have a relaxing weekend ahead of you.

Cheers, Sue

MDS: One Little Word 2014

For each of the last 4 years I've been choosing a word for the year - One Little Word, inspired by Ali Edwards.  I took her online OLW class one year and really enjoyed it.  (Well, I enjoyed the tasks I completed. Apparently my OLW that year wasn't FINISH. Wink.)

This year I've chosen 'Priorities' and I wasn't sure at first that I'd picked a word that resonated with me but it is quite growing on me now that we're back to school and getting back into routines.

I had lots of fun this evening having a play in MDS to make a little 6 x 4 inch sized project to print and pop on the fridge where I'll see it each day.

Priorities-olw-2014

I've used the digital Sweet Sorbet DSP.  I've got the 'real paper' pack of this too and it is just gorgeous.  I love the colours.  Then I added alphabet punches of the letters for my word, filled them with the colours from the paper using the colour picker tool.  I added some digital transparent tape underneath so they'd stand out a little more, plus some drop shadows and grey matting.  Might be hard to see in this picture but I've also added some words faintly in grey on the letters to remind me of some of my priorities this year.

The first one is 'words and actions.'  I went along to the Junior School info night at the kids' school earlier this week and one of the presentations was from the school counsellor.  Amongst other things she spoke about 'showing kids we care with our words and our actions' and that sentence has really stuck with me this week.

Here's a close up of a few other letters and their little reminder words ......

Priorities-close-up-stampin-up

What are your priorities for this year?  The challenge for me is always keeping them front of mind when we start to get busy.  I have a bit of an aversion to our calendar getting too hectic but it gets tricky to keep those white spaces some weeks doesn't it.  Anyway - good luck if you're setting forth on renewed efforts towards some of your priorities this year.

Have a great week.

Cheers, Sue

Notecard Creations: Petite Petals

Another simple little card idea for you today using our Notecards and Envelopes.  I love love love the new flower stamp set - Petite Petals.   There's a coordinating punch too.

Petite-petals

A nice, bright, happy colour combo today - Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight.

The greeting is from Lacy and Lovely stamp set.  I use it a lot - 'Hello' works for all sorts of occasions and is great for 'just because' cards too.   It is quite relaxing to just sit and whip up a bunch of these one layer, no fuss cards.

Notecards and Envelopes pack:  $9.95 for a pack of 20

Happy creating.

MDS: Our 2014 Life - More Pages

MDS-Project-Life-album-Create-page

A warm day in Melbourne today and I'm parked in front of the fan on my laptop in scrapbooking heaven.  I've been working on my digital photobook album 'Our 2014 Life' and have gotten lots done today.

I'm using our digital program MDS: My Digital Studio.  I selected the Saleabration Digital pack as one of my Saleabration freebies so I've got a few new digital papers and embellishments to play with.  My scrapbooking style is very simple and the program is so easy to use - it doesn't take long to whack a few pages together.

Here's a few new pages to share.    A front cover for the album.  (Although I might replace the pic of me and John if I take a nicer one before I get it printed! The height difference between us is a bit too big when we're standing for a pic.)  I kept lots of white space in my cover.

MDS-Project-Life-Cover

And a 1st page before we get into the double spreads with a pic of each of us and a little summary of what we're up to at the start of this year - ages, jobs or grades, hobbies.   (I've blurred a few details for blogging.)

MDS-Project-Life-1st-Page

We're just back from a few days on holiday in Sydney so I did a page about that too.   We took lots of pics on holiday so I decided to make a photo book of the holiday separately since I'm on a bit of a scrapbooking roll at the moment.  Just picked out some of my favourite shots for this album.

If you'd like to try a little digital creating using MDS, you can download either the free 30 day trial or the full program ($24.95) right here.  My Digital Studio Software

If you've already got the program, you can find our huge range of extra downloads right here:  MDS Digital Downloads

There are new downloads added every week.

I hope you're staying cool this week if you're in one of the hotter parts of the planet.  Done any scrapbooking this year??  I always feel fabulous when I'm getting stuck into some scrapbooking.  Makes my heart sing to jot down stories and do something with our photos.  Don't you just love a good hobby.

Cheers, Sue
