MDS: Family History Photobook

I think I'm about to catch the family history bug!  I've been looking through the blog posts over at MyDigitalStudio.net and came across this one (click here to check it out) that uses the Family History Photobook Download.

I've got that one on my computer so I immediately opened it and got started.  (My Saturday morning scrapbooking on my laptop in my PJs is becoming a nice new weekend routine.)  So far I've done the front cover - using a photo I found in my 'old family photos' album on the computer. I didn't change anything - just added the photo, so this cover took me all of about 1 minute.

Must go catch up with mum now and see exactly who these ancestors are, and then start filling in some of the other info in the template.  All the parts of the photobook are fully customisable so you can use it as is, or tweak bits around, mix and match with other digital elements you might have in your collection.

I wasn't convinced a few years back on digital creating, but I'm completely hooked now - I love it for scrapbooking especially.  And the real beauty of it is that you can so easily print off extra copies for other family members.  Print as photobooks, or print single layouts and mix and match them with paper non digi layouts in a regular album.  So many options. I'm so excited about all the album ideas I've got spinning around in my head that I'm not sure where to start!  Just pick one and begin I guess.

Useful tip:  I was thinking that I'd head over to my online store and buy this photobook download.  Luckily I checked out my MDS program first and found that I'd already bought it a few weeks back!  Easy to lose track of what you put on a wish list and what you clicked 'yes I'll have that now' (or perhaps that is just me!) Anyway - my tip of the day for MDS is this - while I'm browsing through all the great download options, I make a list of any downloads I'm keen on, and make sure to use the search functions on MDS first to check whether I've already bought it, or whether it came preinstalled when I bought the program.

There are quite a few downloads on special for 25% off until June 15th.  Find them here in my online store.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone.

MDS Project: Family History and MDS Class

I love creating with MDS - right from my cosy couch with my laptop.  This morning I wanted to use one of my favourite old family photos.  This one is of my dad when he was a boy with my nana and pa, and his sisters.

Family-history-page

The background is Always Artichoke Script, and I've added lots of bits and pieces from one of my favourite kits - Downtown Grunge.  (This kit comes preloaded with MDS.)  I've also used stamps and embellishments from the Family History kit, and lots of stitching and transparent tape.

It is so much fun creating with MDS.  No mess on the table, lots of colours and stamps and embellishments to play with and my absolute favourite bit - the undo button.  Makes it so easy to experiment and try different things, and you can just click undo if it doesn't work out how you'd envisaged.  Would be nice to have one of those for life wouldn't it.

MDS Class - Melbourne

Want to find out a bit more about MDS?  I'm holding an introductory session in my lounge room in June.  Grab a cuppa and a comfy seat on the couch (if you're one of the first here, otherwise a not quite so comfy seat on a chair - wink) and I'll step you through a little MDS tour on my TV screen.

Mds logo sueSaturday June 15th

Class being rescheduled.  New date coming soon.

2.00 - 3.00pm

Entry Fee $10.

Note: This class is free for my customers and class regulars.

We'll take a look at:

* how to use the included templates

* designing a custom project

* an intro to some of the features and fabulousness.

If you've been a bit curious about MDS and would like to know more, this is a great way to discover more about it.  If that date doesn't suit, keep an eye out for dates in later months.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Cheers, Sue
