Creating With Hearts A Flutter Framelits

The Hearts A Flutter Framelits are nice and easy to create with.  Just use them to cut some lovely patterned paper and arrange them across your card.

I love the Fancy Fan embossing folder.  I've popped half a doily underneath as well.  And this design is great for getting some of those pretty buttons and brads onto your card too.

There's a matching stamp set as well.  Handy when our things coordinate.

I hope your weekend is going well.  We're having a nice quiet one here.  Just what we all need after a busy week or so.  Always nice to recharge the batteries a little isn't it.

Happy stamping!

Cheers, Sue

50 Shades Of Birthday

Back again to share a card that popped into my brain over the weekend.  A friend was having a milestone birthday and I wanted to make something special.  Had a brainstorm, grabbed my 1" circle punch and a whole stack of cardstock and got to work.  This is what I came up with ....

I thought it was rather nifty.

I made the title panel using our new program MDS: My Digital Studio.  Here's a closer look.

Want to see how I did that?  Well, I've been fluffing about half the day and I think I've managed to put together a little video clip that shows you how to do something similar.  (It is slightly different as I left out the splatters and the drop shadows and used a different stamp, otherwise it'd go for half an hour.)

'Scuse the amateur hour as it is my first go - I do make a nice stuff up about half way through which is a fabulous time to show you my favourite MDS feature - the undo button. Wink.   I didn't realise until I was watching it back that I waggle my mouse an awful lot too - I'll be a little less hyperactive with that next time!

In the interests of correctness - one slight boo boo - I wasn't actually erasing that 'happy' part of the greeting as I say in my video - I was just colouring it white so you couldn't see it on my project.

Well, now that I sort of know how to do these little instructional videos and I've slightly gotten over hearing my own voice recorded, I hope to make a few more to share with you for anyone interested in finding out a little more about MDS.    Stay tuned!

If you'd like to have a look in person, keep an eye out here.  I'm planning some at home live demonstrations.  Grab a cuppa, sit down in my loungeroom and I'll show you some key features.  (I worked out how to hook my laptop up to the TV so we're not all staring at a little screen.)

If you'd like to come along to a regular cardstock and inks class - I've got space this coming Friday at 10.30am.  We'll be having lots of fun with the dress up framelits, and making a nice little lolly bag and tag as well.  Class details here.

My kids and one of Hannah's friends who was over for a playdate had lots of fun testing out the dress up framelit yesterday.  I let them loose with the Big Shot, the dress framelit and a box of retired papers.  Here's their creations.

Happy creating!

Madex MDS Creations: Jack Scrapbook Page

After a few computer hiccups I've gotten our new digital creating program MDS loaded onto my laptop and have been having lots of fun playing with it.  I can't believe it is only $25.  A super program and it comes with a ton of included content.  Definitely gets my tick of approval.

Tonight I thought I'd play with one of the included templates.  I dropped in a favourite photo of Jack then tweaked and moved things about and recoloured things and of course made good use of the undo button.  Here's what I came up with ...

I'm saving the files up for now and once I've got a batch of scrapbook layouts, I'll get them printed and popped in to albums.  I like to mix and match regular, hybrid and digital scrapbook pages.

Madex MDS Creations:  Tips and Tricks

  • The digital stamp I've used for my title is from Fantabulous You (included with full MDS version) and I've recoloured it by clicking on 'change colour' in the stamps tool box area.  You can either select from all the Stampin' Up colours (past and present) or you can click on the colour picker and move your mouse to select a colour from the page or directly from your photo.

  • I wanted to 'mess up' the page a little so I added some splatters.  They're so much fun to play with.  There's a bunch of different ones to choose from - you can rotate them, resize them, and of course can change the colour.  You can find the splatters in the Stamps section.  Just click on Add Splatter and go for it.

Did you know there's new content released every week for MDS.  This week's new digi products are themed around Mothers' Day.  Find latest downloads here:  MDS new downloads

Or check anytime you're in my online store.  Just click on My Digital Studio from the product list down the left, then click on Digital Downloads, and Newest Downloads.  Happy browsing.  (If you're shopping check that my name - or the name of your regular demonstrator - is up the top right so that you get the preferred pricing.)

I'll be back regularly with more MDS tips, tricks and projects.

For those non digi crafters out there, stay tuned tomorrow for a super cool colourful card I had heaps of fun making for a friend having a milestone birthday this week.

Happy creating!

Cheers, Sue

Hearts A Flutter Card

We had a play with the Hearts A Flutter bundle last month at class.  I've used a few of the different framelits in this card, and the coordinating stamp set too for the heart.

Details, Tips and Tricks

  • The base is Crumb Cake, then a layer of the Primrose Petals core'dinations cardstock embossed and sanded.
  • I sponged the elements with black ink to grunge them up a bit and help them coordinate together.
  • The heart and that scallop circle are snipped from the More Amore Specialty DSP.
  • The heart is stamped on vellum and embossed with the dotty folder.

My Digital Studio: MDS

I've also been having a play with MDS: My Digital Studio.  I gave my blog header a bit of a quick tweak using it ....

.... and I whipped up a super quick scrapbook layout of my little guy.  Pop back tomorrow afternoon if you'd like to see that.

Stampin' Up Australia: Freshening Up The Colour Palette

Hello everyone.  Another announcement today from Stampin' Up Australia.  They've been busy busy lately.

Stampin' Up love to keep their colour palette fresh and up to date, which means it is time for a little 'freshen up'.   Here's the details ....

3 brand new colours, 7 in colours making the move into the colour families, and to make room for those changes we'll be saying goodbye to 10 colours.

The ones heading off are Regal Rose, Pretty In Pink, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Bravo Burgundy, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard and River Rock.

We found out today that products (inks, refills, cardstock, ribbons etc) in these 10 colours are available while stocks last from today.  If you need an ink refill or cardstock or what not, I'd recommend ordering fairly quickly based on prior experience.

I'm super excited to see some of my favourite in colours sticking around, and love the sound of Smoky Slate.  Will possibly miss More Mustard for a brief moment.  What are you happy to see in the colour families or sad to see go?  I'd love to hear.

Get in touch if you'd like to order anything, or click here and hit Shop Now:  Online Ordering     if you'd prefer to place your order through my online store.  Handy for middle of the night shopping.

Happy stamping!

Cheers, Sue
