Jolly Holiday Boxes

At class this month we've been using my brand new Box #2 die and the lovely Jolly Holiday DSP paper to make some festive boxes. They all looked different as we had a range of designs to choose from. Here's two of mine.

Jolly-holiday-boxes

We've used the Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to stick the glitter on to the punched out shapes.  They make it quick and easy to add some sparkle.

Jolly-holiday-red-box-spark

Some ribbon trim.   We used the Real Red taffeta which works quite well, even though the red in the paper is Cherry Cobbler.  Love the wide striped ribbons.  Next month we get that in Cherry Cobbler - yum!

This little star punch has retired but we used it anyway as it was perfect for this project.

The gold embossed greeting is from Short and Sweet stamp set, punched using the Modern Label punch.

SEPTEMBER 1st CLASS - A FEW SPOTS LEFT

We've got one more class left this month - well actually we had to reschedule it because of a school concert so it is Thursday September 1st, 7.30pm.  There's a few spots left if you'd like to make this box, plus a couple of Christmas cards.  Techniques: Faux Silk and Reverse Masking.   Last chance for a little while to catch a class.

RETIRED LIST

Lots of my customers have been ordering the Jolly Holiday DSP this month that features in these boxes.  It is reduced to $10.17 so quite a bargain.  I keep expecting to log on to find it sold out, but so far so good.

My lovely stamping friends are having a blog hop today with some retired list products.  I did a lap around this morning with a cuppa in hand.  What gorgeous projects.  If you're looking for some card making inspiration today you can catch the hop here:  Judy's blog    then follow the links to do a lap.  Must get myself organised to join in one of these months!

Stampin' Up New Catalogue Peek: My Friend Card

I've been having a play with some new goodies from the upcoming new 2011/12 Stampin' Up catalogue.   Here's the first card I made using the set My Friend.  What an appropriate name for a card for a lovely friend.

My-Friend-card

The base is Concord Crush (always a tricky colour to photograph.)  I've also used Pink Pirouette (textured) and Very Vanilla.  The silhouette flowers are stamped in Concord Crush ink.  I've coloured the greeting using my markers - the colours from the card plus Pear Pizzazz.

Punches: Modern Label and Decorative Label - a nice combination.

I've added a spritz of sparkle to the pink layer and finished it off with some of the tiny pearls.

Dasher Christmas Card

Back again with the last of the cards we did at Christmas In July classes.

Christmas-card-3

This one features the stamp Dasher and the Petals A Plenty embossing folder, along with one of the striped grosgrain ribbons.  They look so lovely cinched in with an antique brad don't they.  Dasher is stamped using Platinum Shimmer Paint (just daubed straight onto the rubber.)  A pearl for an eye, and some vellum for the matting.  The embossed panel is Very Vanilla.  Some ladies used black ribbon, some used olive and some went for the red - they all looked very striking I thought.

Here's another shot with a bit more of that texture showing.

Christmas-card-3b

We're making a nifty box, and two more Christmas cards at my August classes - the last chance to catch a class for a little bit.   There's space left next Wednesday 17th and also on Thursday 18th, at 7.30pm if you're keen to get some ideas for Christmas cards.   Phone or email to book a spot.

RETIRED LIST

Here's the link to the page where you'll find the retired list if you wanted to check the latest updated list.  Retired List Info

Get in touch if you need more details.)

Yay Cadel

Jack and I enjoyed adding our claps and cheers to the big crowd in the city today for Cadel Evans.

Here's our view of one of the big screens ....

Hanging Ornament Christmas Card

Sparkly-bauble-card-bauble

Here's another of the cards we made last month at my Christmas In July classes.  This one uses the ornament from Delightful Decorations, the ornament punch and the Lovely As A Tree stamp set too.  Plus lashings of Heat and Stick Powder and Dazzling Diamonds glitter to make the gorgeous sparkly panel, and a nice coating of Crystal Effects for that glossy shine.

Sparkly-bauble-card

Colours:  Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla - an elegant combination for Christmas I think.

The Always Artichoke panel is stamped with En Francais, with some sponging around the edge for that nice added depth.  Tip: I ink up the stamp and place it on the table, rubber side up.  Then I lay my cardstock on top and press to make sure it contacts the rubber all over.

Sparkly-bauble-card-top-lef

The branches are from the big tall tree in Lovely As A Tree stamp set.  Once we'd stamped those onto the Vanilla cardstock we tapped the whole panel on to a Versamark Pad then added Heat and Stick Powder.  Heat until it JUST changes to be tacky, then dip it in Dazzling Diamonds.  A quick burst with the heat gun helps to set it.  I love glitter panels - a great feature for an extra special Christmas card.

I decided to add Crystal Effects to the bauble.  I waited until I'd put the card together, stuck the bauble on with dimensionals and added the rhinestones.  Then coated it with Crystal Effects.

Tip:  Then put it on the bench and leave it to dry overnight!  Don't go touching it 2 hours later because you want to check - it won't be quite dry and you'll leave a fingerprint which will then annoy you.  (Speaking from experience - grin!)

One last pic to show that nice glossy ornament and sparkly glitter panel.

Sparkly-bauble-shine

Have a great week.     Cheers,  Sue

Note for anyone emailing:    We're heading up to Rockhampton for John's dad's funeral so I'll be offline from midday today til late Tuesday night.  Back on deck Wednesday.

Sparkly and Bright and Spiral Punch

Way past time for a card here isn't it!   Here's one of the cards we did last month at my Christmas In July classes.  It is based on this card by Kirstin Davies, and features two items from the Retirement List - Sparkly And Bright stamp set, and the Spiral Punch.  (Going to miss that punch!)

Sparkly-and-bright-card

The greeting, Christmas images on the film strip, and the snowflake I've used in the background are all from Sparkly and Bright stamp set (along with a Christmas stocking image that didn't squeeze onto the card.)

Colours:  Real Red, Old Olive, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and Basic Black.

Punches: Spiral Punch and Decorative Label

Sparkly-bright-greeting

The Decorative Label comes up well when you layer 3.  I've trimmed a little bit off the red and green ones so that it is a bit neater on the sides.  I've used my markers for the greeting so we could get a two toned image.

If you'd like to get an early start on some Christmas card ideas, we're doing festive themed classes in August too - making two cards and a gift box.  Booking up fast!
