Who Likes Pink???
A Touch of Red ...

Starting School Scrapbooking ...

Before Hannah started Prep this year I asked her what she thought she might do at school and jotted down her reply.  (Can you tell she has a crafty mum!? You will if you read her answer!)

Well since she loves ribbon so much I popped some on the page.  The Soft Sky double stitched ribbon matches the Spring Silhouettes paper perfectly.  I printed my journalling on vellum cardstock again - the ribbon hides the join.  I stamped one of the flower squares from Mostly Flowers and embossed it with silver.  I added some silver heart brads from my pre Stampin' Up supply stash just to finish it off.

This side of the page took about 2 minutes to put together.   I just popped a thin layer of Pink Passion cardstock at each side of the photo.  It is a 6" x 6" album so standard sized photos take up most of one page.  I want the focus of this album to be on my portraits and journalling so am keeping it quite a simple style.  (OK, plus it is very quick so I am more likely to sit down and get a few pages done in a short sitting!)

Tidied up my craft desk last night (you can see the surface again) so have been busy creating today while Jack naps.  (Well in between tackling loads of washing and a mountain of dishes.)  Back soon with more.

Attention Beginning Stampers and Cardmakers

Nearly forgot - I've been rewriting some of the pages on my blog (the ones you find in the left hand column there with further information about workshops, classes and other topics.)  I've added a page with a few tips for getting started and what basic supplies you might begin with if you are new to cardmaking and stamping.  This page might help you if you love the look of cards like these, are keen to try stamping or start getting some supplies but just don't know where to start.  Now if you ask 5 card makers for starting out advice or basic kit tips you'll get 5 different answers of course - it is such a personal thing.  This is just my two bobs worth!   Hope it helps.

Cheers,  Sue

Hi Tracy - Thanks for the lovely comments. I know what you mean about finding the time for craft with little tackers around. I do have the advantage of a study with a door I can shut so little fingers don't go exploring in my gear - that sure helps. We have 2 desks in there and one is my craft desk so I can leave stuff all set up for when I return. I must say since I've been doing heaps more card making and blogging and newsletters and what not, I think there has been a corresponding drop in the amount of housework I get done! Mind you - I think usually I am the only person who really notices if the place is clean or not so not a big drama! Plus I don't watch much TV. I tend to do my stamping when Jack is napping then some more in the evenings. So if I'm posting lots of creations here you can be sure I have a nice pair of bleary eyes and a bit of an untidy house! But hey - I'm always much happier when I get to fit some creating into the day, and a happy mum makes for a happy house we think! Oh and a fantastic husband who is very involved with the kids and cooks yummy meals part of the week and is generally just so thoughtful helps too! :-) Sue

I just love those pages you did of your daughter - and isn't she gorgeous :) Just read your 'getting started' section. What a great help!

I am at the stage where I have lots of 'bits and pieces' but still trying to find more to add that extra 'bling' without it costing me an arm and a leg....lol....I need to find a place I can call my own (craft area that is) and stop procrastinating and oooohing and aaaaring over other peoples cards (I save them thinking that I will make 'that one' one day) PLUS I just need to find time to create around my 20 month old son and my 4 month old daughter! Soooo hard sometimes. How on earth do you do it?

Wendy

I cannot believe I missed that!
Thank you for the prompt service at your "Help desk for Blog Reading for Dummies" desk.

Hello Blog Beginner, No worries - it is your friendly help desk here. (You have been placed in a queue, your call is important to us, please wait for the next available .... Sorry got a bit carried away there with the help desk analogy!) Just check down the left column there where all the various links and menus are. (On a dark blue background with white writing. There is a photo of me at the top of the column.) Scroll down, just under the spot where you pop your email address to register for newsletters there is a heading that says 'More Information About'.... The page I've just added is called 'Getting Started/Basic Supplies' so just click on that and you'll be there. Added some pics today to break up all that writing. (Sorry dial up people - that probably slows you down.) Hope those directions are helpful. Sue (OK Susan for you!)

Good idea to provide some tips for beginners and I would find them most useful but I am a beginner at blogs too and I cannot find them! Help please.

Wendy
