Mojo Monday 94: Christmas Mojo

Got busy with my I Wish Kit again last night for my 'I Wish Kit Challenge' so thought I'd pop by with another card. 

This time I visited Mojo Monday for a bit of sketch inspiration.  Here's this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

 

And here's my first try at a Christmas version of the sketch. I've used just the papers, cardstock and die cuts from the I Wish kit, with the addition of a red rhinestone brad from the Fire pack.

 

Now that one didn't quite look like I'd imagined when I started so I decided to have another go.  This one is a little less busy and I like it better.

 

 

While I had all the kit contents spread all over the dining table I made another 4 as well,  so I'll be back tomorrow with more kit cards.  And of course Monday to Friday blog posts during July as part 2 of my July challenges.

Masculine Cards ...

 Cards for guys always seem to present a little bit of a challenge.  Perhaps because so many of my stamps, papers and embellishments are floral and feminine!

With some birthdays approaching for some fellas in the family I got creative today.

 

The Recipe:

Stamp Set:  Cheers For You

Cardstock and Ink Colours: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip

Other: Windsor Knot DSP, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Vintage Brads, and my newest toy - a crimper!

I was also tackling two different team challenges with my card making today - a product challenge set by Ros Oakes.  The July challenge is to use as many different designs from one pack of DSP on a creation.  And a sketch challenge set this month by Genna Gifford.  Here's the sketch.

While I had everything out I made a second one, tweaking the design a little.

  

I am really loving my new crimper and crimping everything in sight! 

You just cut your cardstock piece or paper piece, then feed it through the crimper.  You can adjust the 'crimps' a little by how firmly you squeeze the handle.  Quite a nifty tool for adding a little texture I think.  Page 155 if you're looking for it.  $37.95

The kids and I are  just back from a few days R and R with my parents in Seymour.  We had a lovely time away.  Always nice to have a change of scenery.

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge

I enjoyed that last Sketch Challenge so much I decided to go hunting for another one.  This sketch at Taylored Expressions really caught my eye.

Here's my version. 

You can see heaps of other people's creations on this post.  There are some just gorgeous cards in the list - well worth a browse!

The Recipe:

Base Card: I've used my last half a sheet (sob!) of Purely Pomegranate Textured 12 x 12 cardstock for the base card.  (So the card is a 6" x 6" square.)

Stamp Set: Always (Pg 95 - I was so pleased to see this Spring Mini set made it into the catalogue, one of my favourites.)  I've used the heart plus some of the smaller stamps for the background pieces.

Colours: Purely Pomegranate, Rose Red, Regal Rose, Elegant Eggplant and Old Olive

The background squares are stamped with Versamark for a subtle look.

Other: Stampin' Write Markers.  (Would you like a full set of markers, check details on my Marker Club here.)

Handy Tool!

Do you ever trim by hand (such as I've done with the heart here) and find that your edges look a little uneven.  My Rose Red heart looked a little wonky, so I grabbed my handy distressing tool and roughed up all the edges.  I did the same for the Elegant Eggplant circle too.

 

You can find this tool on page 155. It includes the distresser plus a rotary cutter, perforating tool and scoring tool.  Quite a handy addition to the tool kit.

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge 80

My team were over tonight for a get together at my place.  (Hi girls!) After everyone had left I had a bit of card making energy left over and decided to try a Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. Here is this week's sketch.

 

I decided on an Easter card (which rather dramatically reduced my choice of stamps - always a time saver!)

 

The Recipe:

Stamps: Greetings Eight, Fresh Cuts - I've used the flower (with Versamark) for the background.

Colours: Rose Red, Taken With Teal and Regal Rose.

Other: Stampin' Write Markers, Rose Red 1" Ribbon and some flowers and pearls from the Pretties Kit.

Hmmm - might be time to go and eat my props I think!
